BALDWIN CITY, Kansas - Hardin-Simmons' center Justin Jones has been named one of the 100 players named to the watch list for the inaugural Bevo Francis Award, given to the top small college basketball player in the nation.
The award is given to the top player in Division II, Division III, NAIA and the NSCAA. The initial watch list which consists of 100 players, will be narrowed to 50 semifinalists on Feb. 1 and to 25 on March 15. The finalists will be released on April 1.
Jones, a junior center from Holliday, leads the Cowboys with 14.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game and he leads all of college basketball with 71 blocked shots.
He was the only American Southwest Conference player named to the team.
