For the first time since 2012, the McMurry War Hawks and the HSU Cowboys are going to meet in men's and women's hoops.
The rivalry was suspended while McMurry was attempting to join the NCAA Division II ranks, but now that they are back in Division III and the American Southwest Conference, the games are back on.
It's been a while, but the teams are glad it's back.
Zach Pickelman "It's nice to be able to get back into a conference schedule, into the American Southwest Conference and be able to play a rivalry game like Hardin-Simmons. It's good for the schools. It's good for the students. It's good for our guys to be able to play in a good college basketball atmosphere."
Rian Stubbs "It's going to be good I think. I think the community gets more involved in that game than any other game that we have on our schedule. Obviously both schools I think enjoy that game, and the fact that we are competing against each other once again."
The War Hawks and the Cowboys are set to meet at Kimbrell Arena at McMurry on Saturday.
The women's game is first at 1 p.m. The men will follow at 3 p.m.
