The Cooper Cougars moved to 2-1 in District 4-5A after their 47-46 win over Lubbock High Tuesday night. The Lady Cougars were looking to get their first district win, but they fell to Lubbock High, 58-51.
In the boys game, the Cooper Cougars were able to tie things up in the first quarter when Kentavious Jones hit a three pointer.
Later in the first quarter, the Cougars went around the horn back to Jones, and again he was able to lace in a three to give the Cougars a one point lead.
Cooper would go on to win a close one, 47-46. They are now 2-1 in district play.
In the girls game, the Lady Cougars went to Daniece Edwards, and she knocked down her mid-range shot to give Cooper a five point lead.
Later in the quarter, Lubbock High was making a bit of a comeback when Clarissa Francis got her close shot to go to put Lubbock High ahead by one point.
Lubbock High would go on to win the game 58-51. The loss drops the Lady Cougars to 0-5 in district play.
