The ACU Wildcats are on a roll right now. They've won they're last 14 games and are 9-0 in conference play after defeating Lamar 90-62 on Saturday.
The Cats used a 27 point quarter to put some real distance in their lead, but it was their defensive performance in the third quarter that really stands out. ACU allowed just 12 points in the frame. Playing good defense was a big part of coach Julie Goodenough's half time message, and it seemed to pay off.
"A big focus coming out of the locker room was to do a better job of blocking out and rebounding. They got way too many offensive rebounds in the first half, so the second half I felt like the whole unit, all five players on the floor were more intentional about finding a body, blocking out and getting rebounds," coach Goodenough said. "When we're able to get defensive rebounds, we're can really run the floor and score in transition, so that turned into some high percentage shots for us simply because we were blocking out and rebounding."
The Wildcats will be back on the court Thursday. They will be taking on Lamar for the second time, but this time it's in Beaumont. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
