    UIL Realignment Preview

We are less then 12 hours before absolute chaos in the world of Texas high school football, well maybe not absolute chaos, but tomorrow morning we will finally learn the districts for the next two seasons as the UIL announces the results of the latest realignments.

One of the biggest questions heading into the day is what will happen with Abilene High, and the general consensus is, nobody really knows.

Based on the projections we're seeing, one of two things will probably happen. Either the Eagles could go west, and be in a district with the Little Southwest Conference as well as Amarillo Tascosa and Frenship, or they could head east. The Old Coach is projecting Abilene High to be in a district consisting of the Fort Worth and Keller schools.

In Class 5A, pretty much everything we're seeing for the Cooper Cougars is to stay west. With Lubbock Coronado and Lubbock Monterey dropping to Class 5A, expect those schools to join the already existing District 4-5A, forming a seven team district.

One school to keep your eye on tomorrow morning is the Snyder Tigers. The last two seasons the Tigers have been paired up with Wylie and Brownwood, but being half way between Abilene and Lubbock, the Tigers could head either north or south.

Class 3A Division II has the potential for a very interesting district. Right now a number of projections have Eastland and Cisco once again together, but the thing that sticks out is adding the Coleman Bluecats to the mix.

Last season saw Coleman beating Cisco in a double-overtime thriller. Putting them together in the same district could add fuel to the budding rivalry.

As exciting as all these projections are, they're still just projections. The UIL could throw some curveballs, and put everybody in a loop.

The UIL will announce the new districts Monday morning at 9:00.
