UIL Realignment Wrap-up for the Big Country

Well at 9 o'clock all the madness began at the Region 14 Education Center for the latest UIL district realignments. All the coaches got in a line and we're handed a packet with the new information. After they got that they were able to figure out who they were playing and started getting to work.

For the Wylie Bulldogs nothing is changing. Their district, 3-4A Division I, will once again consist of Brownwood, Big Spring, Stephenville and Snyder. You know the old saying "The more things change, the more they stay the same." The Sweetwater Mustangs adding a team to their district as Seminole joins the fold.

In Class 3A Division II things are changing for the Coleman Bluecats. They're now grouped up in District 4-3A Division II with Cisco and Eastland. That's a lot of wins between those three schools over the last two years.

Coach John Elder said, "At least you know we're kind of glad we don't have to drive all over the state for district games this year. So, we're happy about that."

In Class 3A Division I the expected came true for District 3, and things have become easier for all involved. That's because Wall is no longer looming over everyone. It's always easier when things go as planned.

Coach Jerod Womack said, You know it's a process you try to prepare for. You never really know what's going to happen. I got lucky, it worked out for us."

Some coaches though were left scrambling to find games after getting thrown a curveball by the UIL.

Coach Mitch Ables, "You come in thinking what it's going to be, and then you get your packet and then it's totally opposite of what you think."

The Hawley Bearcats are grouped up with the rest of Jones County as well as Post and Forsan. This could be one of the toughest districts in the state.

So now the attention turns to the fall. We know who everybody is going to be playing, and now the real fun can begin.
