Two Abilene High Eagles, Ronnell Wilson and Slayde Anderson, decided to play football at the next level today.
Anderson decided Abilene Christian would be the perfect fit for him, so this fall he will be a Wildcat.
"Well my grandpa was the very first one, played tight end for ACU, my father then played O-Line for ACU," Anderson said. "Just keeping the tradition alive has been one big deal for me, so just getting to play there is just such a blessing for me and my family."
Wilson decided he would continue his career at Tarleton State, and he believes it will be the best fit for his future.
"What won me over about Tarleton was their strength coach, Rod Cole, and the kineisiology program. I want to be a strength coach at the collegiate level, and he can help you do that," Wilson said. "I believed in him, and he won me over for Tarleton."
It wasn't just family that showed up for signing day at AHS, many students came out to show support for their friends and teammates.
"I walked in here when it was time, and I saw everyone, it put a smile to my face because you realize all these people really care about you. All these people like you, you're a good person to these people and you make a lot of friends. It was a good feeling," Wilson said.
Cooper High School and Wylie High School had athletes sign today as well.
