ABILENE, Texas - McMurry University women's basketball sent its seniors out on a high note in its home finale, topping Sul Ross State University, 86-71, at Kimbrell Arena. The War Hawks improved to 5-16, while the Lobos slipped to 4-18.

In all, five McMurry players scored in double digits.

A pair of McM seniors - Taylor Russell and Sierra Maykus - put on a show for the home crowd, as well. Russell registered her 14th double-double of the season - and scored in double figures for the 19th time - as she booked 15 points and hauled in 14 rebounds, hitting 4-of-8 from the floor. She also had four assists and three steals.

Maykus totaled 18 points, buoyed by a 5-for-5 day at the free throw line. Maykus had two rebounds and three assists, as well.

Junior guard Haley Welch led all scorers with 22 points, hitting 9-of-15 from the field (including 4-of-7 from three-point range). Welch picked up five rebounds and dished off four assists in her 36 minutes of play.

Sophomore transfer Sham Hunter was credited with 14 points. Hunter was an efficient 6-for-11 from the field and also passed off a game-high six assists, to go along with six rebounds and three steals. Kessha Bracy came off of the War Hawks' bench to book 12 points.

Freshmen Amye Templeton and Jamie Flores contributed three and two points, respectively, to round out the McM offense.

McMurry forced the Lobos into a total of 15 turnovers, which it converted into 24 points. The War Hawks also held a 17-10 advantage in bench scoring.

McM swept the season series from Sul Ross State with its victory.
