ACU Softball Ready for the Start of Season

The ACU Wildcats are just start the 2016 season down in San Marcos on Friday.

The Wildcats have a new look Wells Field with a new turf field, and they are a team that is confident they can improve from last year's 14-33 record.

ACU is going to find out just how good they are in this weekend's tournament against the likes of Oklahoma State, Texas State, and Depaul.

Pitcher Hannah Null said, "I think we're all kind of going in a little nervous, and like we're the underdogs, but at the same time we know that we're perfectly capable of taking them on, so it's nice that we do get to see these types of big teams so that way going into conference play we'll be set."

Head coach Bobby Reeves added, "We had eleven freshmen on our squad last year, and seven of them started, so we're still young, but we are experienced. You know, we had a year of that. We had a number one and number two pitcher go down last year, so we pitched all year in Division I without our number one and number two, but everybody's healthy again this year, so we're all back and looking for great things."

The Wildcats open the season against DePaul down in San Marcos.

Their game with Oklahoma State is Saturday at 7 p.m.
