The Abilene High Eagles are moving on to the Area round after beating Weatherford Tuesday night at Eagle Gym. It's the first playoff win for the Eagles since 1999.
Abilene High jumped out to an early lead when Diamond Gary got a one-handed dunk. That put the Eagles up three.
Later in the first quarter, Weatherford's Kotie McClendon got a back-door lay-in to go. That put Weatherford up by one.
A bit later, the Eagles were trailing by three, but Gary knocked down a three pointer to tie things up.
Then late in the quarter, Avery Griffith got the ball on the wing. He hit his three point attempt. The Eagles took a three point lead on the play.
Abilene High would go on to win the game 84-74. They will play Lubbock Coronado in the Area round.
