For the first time in AISD's history, Cooper and Abilene high have paid Girls Athletic Coordinators.
Long-time volleyball head coach DiDi Pierce leads the girls programs at Abilene High in addition to her duties on the court.
Over at Cooper, Courtney Stewart adds Girls Athletic Coordinator to her title along with head track coach.
Courtney Stewart said, "It's very humbling. It's a great experience. It allows me the opportunity to grow and just blossom as an individual and so forth. So, I'm very excited."
Didi Pierce said, "It's huge. You know a lot of times girls athletics gets swept under the carpet, and this is a great opportunity for our district to improve our girls programs, and we're really looking forward to letting our girls reach their full potential."
The change in job titles for Stewart and Pierce are effective immediately.
