The Roby Lady Lions season is over. Lipan and record-setting guard Lanie Roberts beat the Lady Lions in the Class A State semifinals, 74-46.
The Lions scored the first basket of the game to take the lead, but that was the only lead they would have in the game.
Lipan outscored Roby in the first quarter 17-8 to take control of this game. Roberts was the primary point producer for the Indians. She had 13 points in the opening frame.
The second quarter was more of the same, but Roberts was even hotter. She scored 17 more points for a halftime total of 30. Lipan held a 42-23 lead over Roby as they headed to the half.
The third quarter was much more competitive, but Lipan and Roberts had the better of it. They outscored Roby by 14-10 in the period. Roberts added 10 more and continued to be the difference in the game.
Roberts end the game with a state tournament record 49 points in the game.
Isabel Carrion led Roby with 19 points in the game.
Roby's season ends with a 32-3 record.
