The ACU Wildcat football team was back on the field Saturday morning to open their 2016 spring practices.
Head coach Ken Collums and his staff are ready to put a disappointing 3-and-8 2015 campaign behind them, and that starts with the spring workouts.
A number of position battles will unfold over the next few weeks, including one at quarter back, but right now coach Collums is just trying to get his guys into a groove.
"Really that is just tempo," Collums said. "That is, cleaning some stuff up, introducing some things to some of the young guys who haven't done anything yet, but it's a deal of 'hey, we're going to get out there, run around, throw and catch,' so we want to give them that introduction for four practices, and then take a spring break off and then come back and finish."
The Cats will continue practice for the next month ending with their final scrimmage at Shotwell Stadium April 15.
