The Abilene High Eagles fell to the Permian Panthers 8-7 in their first game of the Abilene Baseball Tournament.
Despite the loss, the Eagles put up a fight in what was a back-and-forth battle Thursday night at ACU.
The Panthers got on the board first thanks to an rbi single from Deylen Moreno in the top of the third.
In the same inning, Micah Seiler hit a grounder through the infield to score Preston Earles. The Eagles walked in one more run in that inning, and Panthers led 3-0 in the third.
However, AHS had an immediate answer. In the bottom of the third, Ryan Santibanez hit a deep ball to left center scoring Zach Bollinger, but the Eagles still trailed 3-1.
The Eagles managed another run, and then Hill Hollowy hit a rocket through the 5-6 hole to score Andrew Tebow and tie it up 3-3.
Permian took the lead back, scoring two runs in the fourth, but Abilene took it right back in a big way scoring 4 runs in the fifth, but thanks to three runs in the top of the seventh, Permian came out on top 8-7.
