    Cowboys Explode Late For Fifth Straight Win

    MIDLAND, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team scored six runs over the final three innings to rally for a 7-4 win over Sul Ross State in non-conference action at Christensen Field in Midland on Tuesday night.



    The win was the fifth straight for the Cowboys and improved HSU to 7-6 on the year. Sul Ross State fell to 7-7.



    Colson Craddick put the Cowboys on the board in the first inning with an RBI single up the middle. The Lobos tied the game in the first on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Almager. Chris York had an RBI single and another run scored on a balk as the Lobos took a 3-1 lead in the third.



    It stayed 3-1 until an Elijah Perez sacrifice fly in the seventh. The Cowboys took the lead with two runs in the eighth on a two-run double by Anthony Beasley with two outs.



    HSU added three runs in the ninth. Zack de Luna had a two-run single and another run scored on a balk. Sul Ross scored a run in the ninth on a balk.



    Taylor Cooling had three hits for the Cowboys and de Luna had two hits and drove in two runs. Jonny Campos had two hits for the Lobos.



    HSU used six different pitchers, Kyle Johnson earned the win and Taylor Cooling picked up his fourth save. Coleman Ramsey, one of five Lobo pitchers took the loss.



    HSU will play its home opener against the University of Dallas on Friday at 7 p.m., weather permitting.
