ACU head football coach Ken Collums announced Tuesday that he has hired Ray Brown from Arizona State as the Wildcats' new cornerbacks coach.
Brown joins the Wildcats' staff, replacing Nick Smith, who left ACU last month to join the coaching staff at the University of Nebraska. Brown had just completed his second season as a graduate assistant defensive coach for the Sun Devils and head coach Todd Graham.
Before he joined the Sun Devils, Brown was a graduate assistant defensive coach at Washington State during the 2013 season where he helped mentor first team all-America safety Deone Bucannon, currently a member of the Arizona Cardinals.
He spent two seasons at Oklahoma Baptist University in Oklahoma City as the special teams coordinator and running backs coach.
Prior to Oklahoma Baptist, Brown held the same positions at East Central University (Okla.), his alma mater, where he helped the Tigers claim the Lone Star Conference North championship in 2010.
The Oklahoma City, Okla. native was a four-year starter at defensive back for the Tigers, graduating with a degree in business marketing in 2009 and later earning his master's degree in sports administration in 2011.
