    Veterans Make Difference For ACU

The ACU women finished the 2016 regular season as the Soutland Conference Champions.

They aren't eligible for the conference tournament or the NCAA Tournament, but they are eligigle for the Women's National Invitational Tournament. That's where they are headed.

The Wildcats were picked to finish ninth in the conference at the start of the year.

So, how did they get it done?

It starts with the players that have experience.

Wildcats head coach Julie Goodenough said, "To get a team to buy in like ours did this year, it takes great veteran leadership in the locker room. As a head coach you have to have players that are echoing your philosophy, that are echoing your standards of excellence, and that's what we've had out of the six juniors and seniors we have on this team, and they held everyone accountable. We set this goal to win the conference championship, and I think that the verteran team that we have right now was the driving force. The six leaders on our team have done a great job just showing what it looks like when you persevere, and when you show great endurance through adversity."

The Wildcats continue to practice this week, and they will find out who and where they are playing in the WNIT on March 14.
