STILLWATER - No. 22 Oklahoma State hit three more home runs among its 17 hits Saturday afternoon as the Cowboys rolled to a 16-0 win over the ACU Wildcats at Reynolds Stadium.
The Wildcats' second straight loss to the Cowboys drops them to 8-6, while the Cowboys improve to 9-6. The final game of the three-game series has been pushed to 5 p.m. Sunday. After the series finale Sunday, the Wildcats are back in action Tuesday at 3 p.m. when it hosts Texas-Permian Basin at Crutcher Scott Field.
OSU's Dustin Williams - who had a home run in Friday's 8-2 Cowboys win - had two home runs in Saturday's game, two of the Cowboys' nine extra-base hits in the contest. The Cowboys scored two runs in the second, two more in the third, one in the fourth, four in the fifth, four in the sixth and three more in the seventh off six ACU pitchers.
Junior righthander Garrett deMeyere got the start for the Wildcats, pitching three innings and giving up five hits and four runs (all earned). He gave way to Drew Hanson, who gave up six hits and five runs in just 1 2/3 innings of work. deMeyere took the loss to fall to 2-1 on the season.
ACU managed just seven hits off four OSU pitchers with freshman Hunter Markwardt and junior Russell Crippen each going 2 for 4 at the plate with one double apiece. Jensen Elliott allowed just two hits in five innings for the Cowboys to pick up the win and improve to 2-0 on the season.
