The Cooper Cougars were able to hang on for a 3-2 win over the Abilene High Eagles in the baseball version of the Crosstown Showdown at ACU's Scott Field.
The Cougars took an early lead, but the Eagles were able to tie it up on a fielders choice that scored Hill Holloway.
Cooper moved back in front when Zach Goodson hit one to the wall in left center. Caleb Freeman scored on the play to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead.
Later in the fourth inning, Cooper added another run thanks to Shaun Watson's RBI single. That scored Aaron Jonas, and gave the Cougars a two run lead.
In the top of the fifth, the Eagles cut into Cooper's lead when Mark Santibanez scored Sage Valenzuela. That made it a 3-2 game.
That's where the scoring would stop as the Cooper Cougars hang on for a 3-2 win over their crosstown rival.
