The McMurry War Hawks are getting ready to take on the HSU Cowboys in an American Southwest Conference series for the first time since 2012.
The War Hawks' 2016 season has been up and down, at the very best, so far this season, and head coach John Byington's team is 9 and 11.
They are about halfway through the season, and the coach says his guys have a long way to go to get where they want to be.
"We've got a good group. Our guys have competed well, not happy with where we are right now," Byington said. "I think we still have a good amount of work to get done to be kind of in mid-season form or peaking. I don't feel like we've peaked or are quite in mid-season form, so some work to do to get to that point."
"Really what we're trying to do is just, kind of come together, find ourselves as a team and not individually," sophomore Tyler Jenkins said.
The War Hawks are five-and-five in conference play.
Their series with HSU begins Thursday at Hunter Field starting at 7 p.m.
