Lady Bulldogs Stepping Up in Post Season Play

The Wylie Lady Bulldogs are one of four big country teams still alive in the high school soccer playoffs this week.

The Wylie girls rolled in the first week of the postseason with a 9-0 victory, and they get a chance to keep that roll going on Friday night over in Midland in the Area Championship.

The deeper you get in the playoffs, the better your opponents are, so the Lady Bulldogs say they have to step up their game.

Manuel cordova said, "Once you get there you have a lot of really good opponents, so who can execute better over 80 minutes," head coach Manuel Cordova said. "We were close last year, so hopefully that kind of stung a little bit, and we took it personal. Hopefully now we're getting ready to be able to execute 80 minutes. It'll just take a little bit more grit, a little bit more grind, a little bit more fight to get to that point."

"Coming out, be ready, be excited. If we make it to the regionals we have to be pumped about that," senior Laura Faz said. "That's a moment to live in, and so hopefully we can go out there and play for each other. Play as a team."

The Lady Bulldogs start the day on Friday in Midland where they will play San Elizario at 6 p.m.
