Cooper Cougars Rested and Ready to Play

The Cooper Cougars continue play in district 4-5a tomorrow afternoon against Lubbock High.

It's been over a week since head coach Cody Salyers' team played a game because of the STAAR test.

The Cougars are riding a 2-game winning streak in the district. They are headed into the toughest part of the schedule with Lubbock Cooper and Plainview coming next week, and they are ready to go.

"I think our focus is there. You know we had a long week with testing this week, and we put in a lot of work, but I think everybody's ready to get back on the game field," Salyers said.

"We're just trying to stay loose as much as we can. We're just trying to keep it fun, keep it loose around here," Stetson Hodges said. "That way whenever we get into the games nothing too serious. We want to be in the game and everything like that and be focused, but if you start getting tight you don't play well. You make errors and stuff like that, so we just like to keep it loose, keep it fun."

Cooper hosts Lubbock High tomorrow at Cougar Field at 1 p.m. The Westerners are winless in district play so far.
