The Cooper Cougars are in great position as they head into the second third of the 2016 season.
The Cougars are riding a three-game winning streak, and they are in second place in District 4-5A behind district leader Lubbock Cooper.
Head coach Cody Salyer's team takes on the Pirates on Tuesday with a chance to move into a tie at the top of the district standings.
Salyers said, "I mean right now we're in a pretty good spot, but we still come to work everyday trying to make sure we're getting better. We have several things that we know we kind of need to clear up, but I feel pretty good where we're at right now."
Stetson Hodges said, "Yeah we're definitely where we want to be this point in the season. You know we haven't quite hit our stride yet, and that's what we want. We don't want to really start getting hot, start putting everything together until we get ready for the playoffs, and then hopefully we can make a deep run, be playing in June. That's what we're expecting around here. We're where we want to be. We're geling pretty well as a team."
The Cougars are headed north tomorrow for their second meeting with the Pirates.
Lubbock Cooper won the first meeting and handed the Cougars their only loss in district.
