Maxfield Faces Tough District in Year One

The Brownwood Lions have their new head football coach in Shallowater's Kyle Maxfield, so now the attention turns to getting ready for 2016.

Maxfield is taking over a team who went to the regional finals last season, but once again they will be stuck in a five team district with the likes of Wylie and Stephenville..

On the one hand, they stand a good shot at making the playoffs. On the other hand, winning a district title is no easy task.

Kyle Maxfield said, "It's not going to be foreign to me and the other guys on the staff. We played some pretty tough programs and made some deep runs in the playoffs. There is definitely Coach Sandifer at Wylie, and then Stephenville and those guys, they're very well respected. If you're going to be the best, you've got the beat the best. That's going to be our approach, and I know the kids will rise to the occasion, and looking forward to the opportunity."
