The Cru cut the deficit to 6-4 with a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Cody Stone had an RBI double and Max Conway an RBI single in the fourth and Seth Martin had an RBI triple and scored on a wild pitch in the fifth.

HSU pushed the lead out to 8-4 in the seventh on an RBI double by Craddick and a wild pitch. The Cru scored a run in the seventh on a two-out error, the only of the game for the Cowboys.

The Cru threatened in the eighth with runners on the corners but the Cowboys went to closer Taylor Cooling and he got out of the jam on one pitch and then worked a scoreless ninth for his 10th save, which tied Tyler Brunnemann for the single-season school record.

Jeremy Hallmark went four and one-third innings and he was relieved by Kyle Barnett who allowed on unearned run on two hits in two and two-third innings to move to 3-0 on the year. Garrett Reed recorded a pair of outs and Cooling recorded four outs for the save. Seth Hill allowed six runs on nine hits to take the loss.

The Cowboys had 17 hits and de Luna had five with two doubles and a triple and Craddick had three doubles. HSU had nine extra-base hits in the game.

HSU is now 17-11 overall and 11-5 in league play. UMHB fell to 10-19 overall and 5-11 in conference play.
