    Maxfield Introduced as Brownwood HFC/AD

The Brownwood Lions officially have their new head football coach and athletic director after approving Shallowater's Kyle Maxfield Friday afternoon.

Maxfield spent the last seven years in Shallowater, where he was 72-18.

Maxfield led the Mustangs to the state semifinals in 2014, and last year lost to the eventual state champs, Brock, in the quarter-finals.

Maxfield replaces Chuck Howard, who resigned two weeks ago, and he is excited to join the Lions.

Kyle Maxfield said, "Really look forward to building on the tradition here, and I don't know if there is any other program in the state that has more tradition than Brownwood. I look forward to bringing a championship home to Brownwood. Really looking forward to meeting the kids and building relationships with them and the coaches. We were very happy in Shallowater. Great people there, great support, great kids, great coaches. That's the tough part about it, is leaving those relationships, but at the same time, these opportunities might just come around one in a lifetime."
