    Eagles' Season Back on Track

The Abilene High Eagles started the 2016 district season with four straight losses, but they are turning things around.

It started with a victory over Midland High, and that was followed by two wins over San Angelo Central and Tuesday's victory over Permian.

It looked like a lost season after four games, but now, Ryan Lewis' team is right back in the playoff hunt.

"It was definitely rough there at first. A lot of close games," Lewis said. "We weren't playing bad baseball, but we weren't necessarily playing good baseball, and now we've just kind of got on a role and things have been going our way, and hopefully it sticks around for awhile."

"We just kept grinding," senior Noah Gonzales said. "We kept working hard coming to practice every day knowing that we just had to get over that hump, and once we got over it we'd be where we should be, and that's where we're at right now, and we're going to keep on rolling."

"We just found a spark, and we just kept going," senior Sage Valenzuala said. "We just, once we found it man, we just seeing how far it goes."

The Eagles continue district play tomorrow afternoon at home when they take on Permian at Blackburn Field at 4:30.
