ACU's Brown Takes Over In Backfield

The Wildcats continue Spring football practice this week, and DeAndre Brown is leading the way in the backfield.

For the first two years on the field at ACU, Brown had to share playing time with Herschel Sims.

That's not the case anymore, now that Sims is gone.

Brown comes into the 2016 season with 1,794 yards and 14 touchdowns in two year with ACU.

Now that he's the man, he working hard on the field and leading the team off the field.

Coach Ken Collums said, "Oh DeAndre is the guy. I mean he's good. You're going to get consistency every single practice, every single day in the weight room, and then every single Saturday in the fall. That's leadership, and you use a guy like that. He's going to be our main guy, and a lot of our production is going to hinge on his production. We're proud of his progress. We think he's taken more of a leadership role and he should be. He's comfortable. This is his deal. So, we're fired up about DeAndre."

Brown and the Wildcats are finishing up Spring football this week with a scrimmage on Friday night at Shotwell Stadium.

They open the 2016 season in Colorado Springs against the Air Force Academy on September 3rd.
