Bulldog Pitching Staff Leading the Team

The top ranked Wylie Bulldogs are scoring runs like crazy this season, but the starting pitching is the thing that is getting most of the attention.

Rice-bound Mac Mueller and Conner Carlton are mowing down district 6-4A hitters, and they are making it look easy.

The Bulldogs have allowed just four runs in six games.

Now, the trick is to keep that going for the rest of the season.

"They've been really consistent. All the pitchers have," head coach Clay Martin said. "They've been able to go out there and give us quality starts, and then the relievers have come in and done a great job too."

"They've done great. They've really hit their spots well, and what we've been doing is changing eye level and in and out and off speed," Bulldog senior Lane Bourland said. "They're just doing everything I ask and hitting their spots every time. They're unbelieveable right now. Mac and Connor get a little anxious when we don't score runs, so we like to give them a comfortable lead, and I think it helps them go out there and be a little more comfortable and just throw strikes and let our defense play."

The Bulldogs will try to keep things rolling Friday afternoon as they host Stephenville at 4:30.
