    HSU Cowgirls Finish 3rd In ASC Tourney

    CORINTH, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team placed third at the 2016 American Southwest Conference Women's Golf Championship that was held at the par-72, 5,881-yard Oakmont Country Club in Corinth.



    The teams concluded their second round with nine holes on Tuesday and the Cowgirls improved from 321 to 318 in the second round to finish with a 639 team total.



    UT-Tyler claimed its third straight team title with a 297-306-603 total to beat second-place Mary Hardin-Baylor 306-313-619 by 16 strokes. UC-Santa Cruz placed fourth with a 683 total, LeTourneau was fifth at 697 and Concordia sixth with a 720 total.



    Sophomore Kelsie Guinn claimed second-team all-ASC honors with a 79-76-155 total to place eighth. Freshman Sydney Hallmark shot 80-78-158 to tie for ninth place and also claim second-team all-ASC honors.



    Seniors Dylan Dawson and Kara Doege each shot 82 in their final rounds as Cowgirls. Dawson shot 80-82-162 to finish 13th overall and Doege shot 83-82 to finish tied for 14th place with a 165. Freshman Kimberley Juel was also tied for 14th with an 82-83-165.



    Morgan Loth of UT-Tyler shot 72-74-146 to claim the individual crown by four strokes over Elizabeth Davis of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
