    Bearcats Facing Tough District Schedule

The Hawley Bearcats weren't asked if they wanted to play in a tough district before realignment two years ago, but they are in a tough district.

The 15th ranked Bearcats lost to Albany last night for their second loss in district play.

The down side is you can lose any time you take the field, and the upside is that it can toughen the team up.

"I think it's great. You know, this district is a tough district, and with our young guys having to go up against the Stamfords and the Albanys and the Haskells and the Ansons, it just makes us that much stronger," head coach Jamie Seago said. "Then with our pre-district schedule, we had the likes of Jim Ned and Clyde, and it''s just good baseball around the big country, and we're blessed just to be around them and be able to play."

"There's no doubt it makes us a better team to play them," Calvin Seago said. "Any time we come up against them we know we're going to have to fight, and no matter what happens in the game they keep fighting with us, and we have to keep fighting with them, and it just overall makes both teams better."

The Bearcats are tied with Stamford in second place in district 8-2a.

They meet on Friday in Hawley.
