Younger Players Stepping Up for Hawley Bearcats

The Hawley Bearcats have already locked up a spot in the postseason.

One of the reasons for the Bearcats success this season has been the development of their younger players.

There were only four returners from last year's regional final squad, so there were five spots up for grabs.

The new players stepped up quickly.

Coach Jamie Seago said, "That's the funny thing about it. When we came out here the first day they picked up just like we finished off last year. They all want to get back to the regional finals. That's been our goal since day one. Our four guys that are back off of last year's squad, they've got that bad taste in their mouth, and our young guys they've bought into it. They want to get back to it and see if we can win it and take that trip to Austin."

Calvin Seago said, "They've done a really good job coming up. You know, there's some things that you see here and there that you can tell they're younger, but they've grown up a whole lot, and it's really nice to watch and just see them become better ball players along with us."

Hawley will close out the regular season Tuesday against the Anson Tigers in Anson.
