    Cougars Looking To Maintain Momentum

The Cooper Cougars clinched their spot in the Class 5A playoffs last week, but the work in the regular season is not over, just yet.

Head coach Cody Salyers' team still has one more game to go, and they need to win it.

Why do they need to win it? They are riding a 2-game winning streak, and the Cougars want to make suere they maintain their momentum heading into the postseason.

Salyers said, "Going into the backend stretch of the season, you want to be playing well. It's better to be playing well at the end then at the start."

Zach Goodson said, "It's a big deal for us because if you go in on a high note, everyone is up, every one is hitting the ball, but if you go in on a low note it's kind of quiet in the dugout, it's just dead around the ball as well. Making errors, mistakes, it's all mentality. We just recently had a few guys get hurt. Our starting catcher, Garrett Hurst, getting hurt, but a few guys will step up, some of our younger guys, and we'll be good."

Cooper finishes the regular season on Friday in Lubbock.

They take on Lubbock High at 5 p.m.
