The Cooper Cougars opened the 2016 playoffs by sweeping the Dumas Demons up in Lubbock for their first playoff series victory since 2010.
The Cougars hitters came up with clutch hits in several situations and delivered key hits during the course of the series.
It didn't look good at the start of Game 2 for head coach Cody Salyers club, but they came through later on to help the team move on to the next round of the Class 5A playoffs.
Coach Cody Salyers said, "Early on we had our chances. We had bases loaded and a couple people on, and we didn't get it done, but as the game went on our approach go better, and they ended up coming through when we really needed it."
The Cougars hope to continue that trend when the playoffs continue on Friday.
They start their series with El Paso Jefferson at 4:30 p.m.
Game 2 is schedule for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
All of the games are going to be played at Odessa High.
