The Wylie Lady Bulldogs start the regional quarterfinals on Thursday at ACU against Brownwood.
The Lady 'Dogs swept their first two series, so at first glance, you might think it's been easy, but not so fast.
The four victories came by a total of six runs with a pair of games going to extra innings.
It's been a grind, and it says a lot about Wylie's resolve.
Heather Collier said, "With the close games it means that when our backs are against the wall we never give up until that last out is up. I've said it again and again, our districts been tough. You have to play pitch by pitch, out by out."
Macy Goodenough said, "It just shows that we persevere and work together as a team, and we don't give up halfway through the game. We stay up, and we keep our energy up through out the whole game."
Collier added, "I think that the girls should be confident that we're a good team, and that if we all work together and do a good job that we should be able to pull out tight games, or at least, other teams are going to have to do their best to beat us."
The Lady Bulldogs face Brownwood in the third round starting Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
The series resumes on Saturday at 3 p.m. with Game 2.
All of the games are at ACU.
