The Hardin-Simmons Cowboys are just two victories from winning the American Southwest Conference Championship.
The Cowboys are hosting UT-Tyler in the ASC Championship series this week, and the fact that it's a series plays into the Cowboys' hands.
Head coach Steve Coleman's team is 7-2 in conference series and haven't lost one since the first of April.
"When you get into series, you talk about, win series, just win the series. For the most part we've done that all year long," Coleman said. "We have been playing well of late, and it just gives you the confidence and that goes a long way when you're feeling good about how you're playing you have a little bit of swagger on the field, and you just have that confidence going."
"We're just getting hot at the end of the season. We had a lot of potential in the beginning of the season to win a lot of ball games," sophomore Colton Parker said. "We have a lot of seniors this year. We only lost one last year, so we had a young team, so it's been a good ride so far. We'll try to finish it out."
HSU and UT-Tyler start the ASC Championship series on Friday night at 7 at Hunter Field. Game two is Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Cowboys are in search of their first ASC Championship in baseball.
