The Big Country had a chance to claim three gold medals at the State Tennis Tournament on Tuesday in College Station, and that's how many our tennis players earned.
That group was led by Jim Ned senior Reese Cook, who was playing to become the third boy to ever win four straight singles state championships. Cook won the Class 3A boys singles match in straight sets to claim his fourth straight gold medal.
Wylie's Max Tadvick claimed the Class boys singles championship with a straight sets victory in Tuesday's final. This is Tadvick's 3rd gold medal in his career. He adds the singles title to his boys doubles and mixed-doubles championships from previous years.
Wylie was guaranteed gold in the mixed doubles final in Class 4A. The team of Spencer Lin and Ashley Smyser met up with teammates Jared Clemmer and Emly Corn with Lin/Smyser coming out on top. They won the third and final set, 7-5, to claim the gold medal.
In all, Wylie won two gold medals, 1 silver medal, and a bronze medal.
