The Cooper Cougars are still alive in the class 5A playoffs, and they have not made it to the regional quarterfinals since back in 2010.
This time around they will be facing top ten ranked Canyon High School.
The Cougars aren't focusing on the rankings, instead they're simply happy with the way they've been playing and excited for the challenge.
"I mean we have Lubbock Cooper in our district, who's there, and I think they're ranked number two right now," Zach Goodson said. "The rank's not really affecting us right now. We're playing good ball. We're hitting the ball, our pitcher's are throwing strikes. We're fielding, I mean we haven't had a lot of errors. I think we're ready."
"You know Canyon's a good team. We're excited about the challenge," head coach Cody Salyers said. "This is what we've been looking forward to all year is trying to get to this round and farther, so I think the kids are excited, and we're just going to work. Kind of trying to take it light at the beginning of the week and see what we can do when we get to the end."
Cooper and Canyon will be in Wichita Falls on Friday.
First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
