The Cougars are in for a real test starting Friday when they take on the state ranked Canyon Eagles.
The Eagles are the first ranked team head coach Cody Salyers team will face in the playoffs, and the Eagles aren't in the third round by accident.
"I mean they're just fundamentally sound," head coach Cody Salyers said. "They can play defense. They're going to hit the ball. They're going to pitch, and its just one of those deals that, you just have to show up and play your best whenever you get on the field with them."
"We just need to keep doing what we're doing, playing good ball," Zach Goodson said. "Our pitchers need to keep throwing strikes. We need to keep hitting the ball and making plays behind our pitchers and keeping the momentum on our side and keep rolling through this thing."
The Cougars and Canyon start their series Friday at Hoskins Field in Wichita Falls.
Game one begins at 5 p.m. The series continues on Saturday at 11 in the morning back in Wichita Falls.
