In the class 2A playoffs, Hawley and Stamford started their regional quarterfinal series at ACU Thursday night.
Garett Ramos hit a chopper past the shortstop to score Wesley Gonzales. That ties the game at three in the fourth inning.
Later in the inning, Ligon West sent a routine pop-up into right, but the Bearcats drop it, and another run scored on the error. Stamford led 4-3.
In the fifth inning though, Hawley got that run back when Cade Frazier squeezed the offering into right. Quay Stokes used the wheels and slid into home tying it up, but Frazier was out at second to end the inning.
The Bulldogs took the lead in the series thanks to their 5-4 victory over the Bearcats.
Game two of the series is Friday night at Scott Field at 7.
