Seniors Are Leading Lions To Region

The Albany Lions are just one series win from going to the state baseball tournament.

The Lions cruised through the regular season with just one loss, and they haven't lost yet in the playoffs.

The football team went to state. The basketball team wen to the playoffs, and now the baseball team is winning.

Why is this group doing so well?

Coach David Fairchild said, "Well last year we got beat out by Hawley in the Regional Quarterfinals, and that was kind of something that our kids look back on. I've got three seniors, and these three guys play basketball, football and baseball, and that was one of those things to get past that third round, and we've done that and succeeded in doing it."

Drew Neece said, Pretty much all of our team is the same team. The same football team, the same basketball team. So, all my friends, we all play the same sports, and we're a pretty young team. Only three seniors."

The Stamford Bulldogs are next for Albany in the regional finals.

Stamford is the only team to beat the Lions this season.

The series starts Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and continues on Thursday at 1 p.m.
