AUSTIN, Texas -- The Brownwood Lady Lions season is over after they lost to La Grange in the state semifinals on Thursday, 7-1.
Brownwood started fast in the top of first. The Lady Lions' Ashley Gomez scored on an illegal pitch to give her team a 1-0 lead over the fourth best team in the nation.
La Grange answered that with seven straight runs.
The barage started with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Amber Loehr delivered the big blow with a 3-run homer in the inning.
The Lady Leopards added single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take command.
La Grange pitcher Missy Zoch, who signed to play softball for DePaul, gets the win for the Lady Leopards. She allowed just three hits and one unearned run to improve to 31-2 on the season.
Brownwood's Chyanne Ellett takes the loss. The freshman falls to 21-7 in 2016.
The Lady Lions' season is over with a 25-9-1 record this year.
