Wylie Familiar with the Big Stage

The Wylie Bulldogs are back in the state tournament for the second year in a row after their thrilling win over Godley last week.

Once again the Bulldogs will be playing their state games at Disch-Falk Field at the University of Texas.

It's a field that pretty much everybody on this year's squad is familiar with because of last year's experience, and they feel that gives them an advantage in the tournament.

Coach Clay Martin said, "Well I think the experience of this team has been a positive force all year, and to make a return trip to State obviously there's some familiarity with it. That's will help, but when it comes down to it at 1:00 there will be a baseball game. So, we'll just have to be ready to play."

Lane Bourland said, "It's a lot bigger field. Well the field's the same, but the stadium is big, so it feels big. So, hopefully we'll be a little more comfortable with it, and the game won't feel so big, and we'll be able to focus on the game and play baseball."

Wylie is taking on Pleasant Grove in their state semifinal game. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 in Austin on Wednesday.
