The reigning state champion Wylie Bulldogs have probably still not come down from the high of being champions after Thursdays's 3-2 win over Salado.
Head coach Clay Martin had been to the state tournament multiple times, but never hoisted the trophy.
Well he can't say that anymore, and Martin didn't take any credit for the win even though winning pitcher Mac Mueller gave most of the credit to his coach.
Martin said the win goes to the Bulldog community and the hard work the guys put in to the 2016 season.
"I think this win is for all the Wylie community, and for all the players that have played before and had an opportunity to be here," Martin said. "It's just a great feeling to finally get it done, and you know it was a goal of this team from the very beginning and something that it's just a great feeling to finally accomplish it. These guys have worked really hard and been mature and been just a great group to be around, and to know that this is your last game and then to come out victorious was a great feeling."
