Cooper Taking Advantage of 7-on-7 Games

The Cooper Cougars booked their ticket to state by qualifying at last weeks tournament in Abilene.

This Cooper team looks pretty good.

A number of excellent receivers across the board, and they qualified without starting QB Austin Smith.

Although it's not exactly like the football you'll see on Friday nights, there's still a lot that can be gained from these games.

Coach Todd Moebes said, "It's something where guys get to come out here and compete. Ender Freeman is running our quarterback right now, and it's an opportunity for everybody to get reps. Our defensive backs have the chance to cover. Our offense continues to run what we do offensively. Just continued practice and continued repetition is what we're looking for. It's an opportunity for them to bond too in different game type situations, and then to be able to handle momentum and handle success. Those are all things you can certainly learn from the summer that you can apply in the fall."

The state tournament will be July 7th through the 9th in College Station.
