The third annual Hardin Simmons State Lineman Challenge was this morning over at Shelton Stadium.
Schools from across the state competed in strength competitions.
Four schools were grouped together for each competition, and there were conditioning tests as well as strength.
The tire flip relay, an obstacle course, farmer's walk, bench press and six more competitions spread out around the stadium for the school's to compete in.
Cooper and Abilene High were just two of the schools competing, and their guys said how much fun the competition is and talked about the confidence they have in their linemen.
"We came out here, and we pretty much have our best dudes, our best o-linemen and d-linemen, and we came out here to compete," Cooper Cougar Actavias Lowry said. "We feel like we have a really good chance because, unlike these other teams. Some of them have a lot of fast people, a lot of strong people. We're really balanced, and we're really strong. We work hard in the weight room, and that's how really we prepare for this challenge."
"It's a lot of fun coming out here and competing with a lot of guys, being out here with the team just trying to get better and stuff," Abilene High Eagles Noah Perez said. "Really just getting out here, and competing really. You try to get better, that's really the best thing to do."
