    Player to Watch: Tanner Riley

Senior quarterback Tanner Riley returns to the Clyde Bulldogs this 2016 season, which is great for the Bulldogs. Riley threw for 3,280 yards with 39 touchdowns in 2015, so naturally head coach Rocky Smart is happy with what he has to work with.

Rocky Smart said, "It's extremely exciting to have a senior quarterback. He has a lot of good receivers returning, and we look for those guys to produce a lot of offense for us. Tanner's done a great job of growing up through the years and being a senior quarterback now, we really expect him to be able to execute the offense."

Tanner has started at Q-B since he was a sophomore, and has grown in more than one aspect of the game.

Tanner Riley said, "Well just getting to know the offense really well, and then my arm strength and speed has really increased, and then getting in rhythm with all my players since sophomore year has just really been great."

Smart said, "His decision making has improved tremendously every year. He's always had great instincts, but he just has a real feel for where everybody is on the field and how to read the defense. That just makes him able to attack them where they're not and make plays."

We asked Tanner his individual goals for the season, and in true leadership fashion, he pointed back to the team.

Riley said, "Be better than I was last year and just have fun with the group of guys. I don't really have any personal goals other than team goals, just to win and be a good team player."

So what's his ultimate goal this season? Tanner is keeping his focus short range for now.

Riley said, "I would say to win state, but that's a long ways from now, so just get to two a days, have some fun and just make it a season to remember."

Tanner Riley is one of our BCH Sports Players to Watch.
