The Abilene High Eagles have a senior leader at the helm of their offense in 2016. Peyton Killam returns for his second season as the starting quarterback. With a year of experience under his belt, Killam said that he does have an idea of how he wants to lead his team.
Peyton Killam said, "Quicker reads, I mean I just hope to be more active on the field to be more talkative, pump my guys up more, tell them they can do it and get the job done. It's just about working hard and competing."
Killam was the 7-on-7 quarterback for the Eagles as well, and he feels like playing in the summer will help build overall team chemistry.
Killam said, "I definitely want to go far. I definitely want to be undefeated, and so coming out here and competing, that gets us better, definitely in the passing game, and so we're just coming out here and trying to get chemistry and build up for the season."
In addition to 7-on-7, Killam has really been focusing on his passing game, and he has gone above and beyond to try to improve himself for his team.
Killam said, "I want to improve my passing game a lot. I've been working on a lot of that this summer, and so I've been going to a bunch of camps. Just repetition, repetition and trying to get that better."
And without a doubt, Killam has a state championship run on his mind.
Killam said, "Oh definitely state. Definitely state, a playoff run and state, see how far we can go."
