    Player to watch: Quay stokes

Hawley quarterback Quay Stokes has started every game for the Bearcats since he walked onto campus as a freshman, so head coach Mitch Abels is excited for the junior to lead the team again this season.

Coach Mitch Abels said, "you know he's played two years on the varsity so far, so we're gonna rely on him quite a bit. He's gonna be a leader for us; one of those guys who kinda gets everyone else going."

Quay said, "just the experience, getting to play on the level helps. Experience always helps, so I think that will help in the long run. But now I'm not the younger kid, I'm an upperclassman and it's time to step up."

Stokes is hoping the work he put in this summer during seven-on-even will fine tune his mechanics.

Quay said, "we're gonna take our timing down, I mean we get a lot of reps out here so I think that will transfer. Just we're working on our feet, getting our hands ready, good throws. A lot of throws are done in seven-on-seven so I think that's getting us ready too."

Stokes threw for 2,091 yards with 32 touchdowns in 2015, so this season he's looking forward to improving every aspect of his game.

Quay Stokes said, "I expect to get a lot of reps, get good timing down, working on our hands, working on our feet, just keep eating. Seeing our guys compete and getting ready for the real football season"

Quay Stokes is a BCH Sports player to watch.
