Devin Johnson and Tyrees Whitfield are Cooper's dynamic duo in the backfield.
These guys combined for over 2000 yards and 24 touchdowns last year and could be even better in 2016.
Last year was Whitfield's first year starting varsity, so this year he has more confidence to run with.
"I got more confident on the field. Last year I wasn't that confident. I was scared," Whitfield said. "I wasn't hitting the holes right because I was scared of, like, messing up in the game, but for sure this year I'm more confident, so it'll be more fluent for me this year."
Johnson says he's been working on his game as well.
"I've been working on my quickness, and you know, being able to read the holes," Johnson said. "Staying behind my linemen."
Having both these guys on the field should really help the Coug's offense, and Johnson says the healthy competition helps make them better.
"It's been, we've just been trying to just play off each other's energy," Johnson said. Just try to make each other better. Always compete with each other."
Naturally their goal is to go to state, and these guys are confident that Cooper will make a run.
"That every play maker on the field makes the plays they need to make, and come out here on Friday nights and play the ball that we know we can, and then for sure we'll go to state this year if everybody balls out honestly," Whitfield said.
"Our ultimate goal is just to pick up where we left off," Johnson said. "We just went three rounds deep and weren't able to finish, but we're looking to finish this year."
Devin Johnson and Tyrees Whitfield are BCH Sports Players to Watch.
